Good Fit vs Bad Fit
5 quick bra-fitting checks every woman should know
Did you know that up to 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size? A poorly fitting bra can affect comfort, support, posture, and how your clothes sit — while a well-fitted bra can completely change how you feel.
Use the guide below to check whether your bra is a good fit or a bad fit, and what simple adjustments may help.
Signs of a BAD fit (and how to fix them)
1. Straps are digging in or carrying most of the weight
What it means: Straps shouldn’t be doing the heavy lifting.
Possible solution: The underband may not be giving enough support — you may need a smaller back size.
2. Wrinkling or empty space at the top or sides of the cups

Possible solution: Try a smaller cup size.
3. Bust bulging over the cups at the neckline or under the arms

Possible solution: A larger cup size is needed.
4. Space at the bottom of the cups or wires sitting on breast tissue
What it means: The cup size or wire shape isn’t right for your breast shape.
Possible solution: You may need a different cup size or bra style.
5. Wires standing away from the body at the centre front, or cups lifting when arms are raised

What it means: The bra isn’t anchoring securely to the body.
Possible solution: Try a smaller back size and/or a larger cup size.
6. Band feels uncomfortable, strains at the hooks, or rides up at the back

What it means: The band isn’t sitting correctly.
Possible solution: A larger back size may be needed.
What a GOOD fit should feel like
1. Comfortable straps
Straps should sit comfortably on the shoulders without digging in. Most of the support should come from the underband, not the straps.
2. Smooth, well-fitted cups
There should be no wrinkling, gaping, or bulging. The wire should sit comfortably and away from breast tissue.
3. Fully encased breasts
Breast tissue should be fully contained within the cups, with no spilling at the neckline or sides. The wire should neatly frame the breast.
4. Secure centre front and stable fit
The wires should sit close to the chest, and the bra should stay in place when you lift your arms.
5. Firm, level underband
The underband should feel firm but comfortable, sit horizontally across the back, and stay in place without riding up.

Final tip
A well-fitting bra should feel supportive, secure, and comfortable — not something you’re constantly adjusting throughout the day.
If you’re unsure about your fit, a professional bra fitting can make all the difference.
